COAL MINE FATALITY - On Wednesday, April 12, 1995, at 3:55 a.m., a bulldozer operator was fatally injured near the end of the shift. The victim had parked the bulldozer he was operating along side of the active pit access road, opposite the location of his personal vehicle. Other large mining vehicles were also traveling the access road enroute to the nearby equipment parking area. One of the mining vehicles struck the bulldozer operator as he attempted to cross the access road on foot. The parking area was not illuminated. The heavy equipment traveling the roadway was large off-road type haulage and loading machinery.

This is the tenth coal mine fatality in 1995. As of April 12 last year, there had been 11 fatalities. This death is the sixth classified as POWERED HAULAGE in 1995.
