COAL MINE FATALITY - On Tuesday, September 12, a miner was fatally injured as a result of a collision with a coal haulage truck. The miner was leaving mine property at the end of his work shift driving his personal pickup truck. The coal haulage truck was traveling to the active pit.

As the two vehicles approached each other on the 53-foot wide dirt and rock haul road, the coal truck driver stated that the pickup truck appeared to lose control as it came around a slight curve. The haulage truck driver steered to the left believing the pickup truck would go to its right, however, the pickup truck did not. The two vehicles collided, fatally injuring the pickup truck driver.
