"B56.1" is the standard for design and construction of new powered industrial trucks, except vehicles intended primarily for earth moving or over-the-road hauling. The most recent version (at this writing) is ANSI/ITSDF B56.1 – 2005. It is published by the Industrial Truck Standards Development Foundation. OSHA references ANSI B56.1 – 1969, published by the American National Standards Institute.
Trucks approved for fire safety also bear a label or some other identifying mark indicating acceptance by a nationally recognized testing laboratory.
