Competed in first bench contest in 1985 (3rd place)
Served as Captain of a mine rescue team (1985-2005)
2006 to Present - Mine Rescue Trainer
Is a member of the National Permanent Rules Committee for Mine Rescue, First-Aid, Bench and Pre-shift
Represented Peabody Energy on the national mine rescue procedures panel to review and formulate mine rescue procedures.
Has been Captain or trainer of rescue teams that have won 15 National Championships in the different categories from 1989-2007.

Teams have been summoned to extinguish two tunnel fires, Beckley Mine Fire, Fire Creek Incident, Aracoma Mine Fire and approximately 15 either seal breach and/or mine recovery operations.
Presently serving as Director of Safety Systems for Patriot Coal.
