Permissible machines are required to be equipped with various safety components pertaining to engine approval requirements, diesel and electric component permissibility, fuel, fire suppression, braking systems, and others.

This presentation may be used to identify the various required safety features for the Wagner model LST-5S scoop. The following presentation of slides and associated text should provide information necessary for understanding requirements pertaining to the design and maintenance of the Wagner scoop. In order to enhance the training, it is recommended that the student review the following parts of Title 30 Code of Federal Regulations:
    - Part 75, Subpart T (Diesel-Powered Equipment)
    - Part 7 (Testing by Applicant or Third Party), Subparts E and F pertaining to approval requirements for diesel engines and power packages
    - Part 36 (Approval Requirements for Permissible Mobile Diesel-Powered Transportation Equipment)
    - Part 18 (Electric Motor-Driven Mine Equipment and Accessories)

These regulations can be accessed from MSHA’s internet site (www.msha.gov) by selecting "Statutory and Regulatory Information" and then selecting "Code of Federal Regulations".
