Shown is a test being conducted on the engine’s exhaust for the purpose of measuring the level of carbon monoxide being emitted by the engine. Exhaust emission tests of this nature are required to be conducted on a weekly basis. The purpose of the testing is to provide a means of signaling the need for engine maintenance. Weekly testing should show standard levels of CO being emitted by the engine. Excessive readings at any time would then signal a need for engine maintenance.
