Grounding Circuit Enclosures

30 CFR 56.12025, 57.12025, 75.700 and 77.700

 

30 CFR §56/57.12025 Grounding circuit enclosures
All metal enclosing or encasing electrical circuits shall be grounded or provided with equivalent protection.  This requirement does not apply to battery-operated equipment.

 

There is no MSHA policy for this standard.

 

30 CFR §75/77.700 Grounding metallic sheaths, armors, and conduits enclosing power conductors.

All metallic sheaths, armors, and conduits enclosing power conductors shall be electrically continuous throughout and shall be grounded by methods approved by an authorized representative of the Secretary.

These standards require that metal enclosing or encasing electrical circuits be grounded or provided with other equivalent protection.  They do not apply to battery-operated equipment.

Issues to Consider in Determining Compliance:

        Are all metal enclosing or encasing electrical circuits grounded or provided with equivalent protection?
