COAL MINE FATALITY - On Friday, June 2, 1995, at about 10:45 a.m., an independent contractor employee was fatally injured while cutting trees about 1,000 feet in advance of surface mining operations. Apparently hidden by the dense foilage, a dead tree was lodged in the branches of the tree the professional logger was cutting. When the live tree fell, the dead tree also fell striking the tree cutter.

This is the 18th coal mine fatality in 1995. As of June 2 last year there had been 19 fatalities. This death is the third classified as MACHINERY in 1995.
