COAL MINE FATALITY - On Sunday, December 21, 1997, a repair man was participating in the advancing of the working section's power center. Later, after the power center had been advanced, the repairman was found electrocuted, lying over an open high voltage (7,200 volt AC) splice box about three crosscuts outby the power center. The repairman was not a qualified person.

This is the 29th coal mine fatality in 1997. As of December 21 of last year there had been 38 fatalities. This death is the third classified as ELECTRICAL in 1997.
