Diane L. Crouse Diane began her career with MSHA, District 5 in 1973 in the Richlands, Virginia Subdistrict Office. She came to the Norton Office in 1997 where she has served as Secretary to the Assistant District Manager for Inspection Programs and Secretary to the District Manager. Diane has been involved in Mine Rescue since 1973. She served as Registrar for the Virginia Mining Institute’s Safety Day Contests in Blacksburg, Virginia. She assisted in all aspects of this competition including lodging arrangements, correspondence with the teams and officials, arrangements for the awards banquet, tabulation of the competition results, etc. In 2007 VMI honored for her hard work and dedication to mine rescue with a dedication in their annual program. Diane joined the National Key Officials in 2009 where she has served as Chief Registrar and Recorder. Her Mine Rescue work reflects her dedication to miner safety and the mission of these competitors who fearlessly represent our industry. She is the daughter of Jess Crouse and the late Eva Crouse. She was raised in the Dix Creek section of Tazewell, County, Virginia. She is a 1971 graduate of Tazewell High School. Her siblings are Steve, Marcia, Melissa and Sharon. Diane plans to retire at the end of this year. Her plans are to move back to Tazewell County where she can be close to her family and help care for the nieces and nephews she is so devoted to.
