Stay Out Stay Alive Stay Out! Stay Alive!

From a Child's Perspective

Over the years, MSHA has sponsored a number of contests with elementary schools to educate children about the importance of steering clear of active and abandoned mines. We encourage other schools to use the examples below to further promote Stay Out Stay Alive concepts.

Example 1

Youngsters representing four elementary schools in northeastern Pennsylvania took part in a poster contest where they created drawings about the dangers kids and adults may encounter when playing on mine property.

Example 2

Elementary school children were asked to design a poster depicting the dangers that exist on active and abandoned mine sites, and why people should stay away from these properties.
