Teen Drowns in Quarry

On Tuesday night, a student and exemplary high school athlete drowned in a quarry located in Columbus, Ohio.

The 16-year-old junior and two of his friends were swimming in the quarry around 6:45 p.m. when the victim disappeared. After failed attempts to find him, his friends called 911.

The Columbus Fire Department's Dive and Rescue Team (DART), along with the teen's family and friends, searched the surrounding area and the quarry, but the victim was not found.

An hour later the teen's body was found at the bottom of the quarry, and he was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:22 p.m.
