Lynn Bayard began his Mine Rescue career in 1990 at the Avery Island Mine operated by AXZO Salt at the time. Lynn spent most of his Mine Rescue career at the Avery Mine, now operated by Cargill Deicing Technology. He spent 14 years as the Captain of the Salty Cajuns while holding the responsibility of trainer during that same time period. Lynn has held the positions of Fresh Air Base, Rear Captain, First Aid, Captain and Trainer throughout his career. Lynn still is following his passion for miner's safety and Mine Rescue today as a contracted trainer. He still represents the Southern Regional Mine Rescue Association on the National Mine Rescue Advisory Board and the Joseph A Holmes Mine Rescue Board. He participated in 4 mine emergencies including: the New Year’s Eve ANFO rig fire, two scaling rig fires, and a service loader fire. |
