Randal began his mine rescue career in1980 at AXZO Salt's Avery Island Mine. He is still working at this mine but retired this year from mine rescue with over 33 years of service. The last 10 year Randall was the Captain of the Salty Cajuns mine rescue team. Randal has held virtually every position in Mine Rescue throughout his career. He participated in 4 mine emergencies including the 1994 Rest of Mine water intrusion and 3fires at the Avery Mine. Randal has also responded to the needs of at least 3 miners at Avery in need of major first aid treatment, one of which w a s lifesaving. He has either participated or guided his team through more than 35 Regional competitions and 7 Metal and Nonmetal National contests, taking home many awards and trophies in the Regional contests. Randal's exemplary service and dedication to mine rescue has been an inspiration to all in the mine rescue family.
