Raymond Nelson
Raymond started working at the Bell Isle Mine and was on the mine rescue team that assisted during the 1979 explosion. After the mine closed, he went to work for North American Salt. Raymond had 32 years of mine rescue experience, competing in many regional and National contests. One of his notable moments occurred in 1994 when the North American Salt team placed third at the national completion. Raymond assisted in many mine fires and also the Rest of Salt water inundation. Raymond is gone but leaves behind a road paved with many mine rescue memories.
