    Nozzles to distribute the dry chemical are installed at numerous locations throughout the machine. Shown is a nozzle installed on the side of the engine that is used to provide protection for the engine, transmission, and compressor.

    Discharge nozzles must be positioned and aimed for maximum fire suppression effectiveness. Nozzles must be protected against the entrance of foreign materials such as mud, coal dust, or rock dust. This protection can be provided with either blow-off caps or, for certain type nozzles, by having their opening packed with a good grade of extreme-temperature silicone grease.
