Because of the inherent hazards involved with the operation of equipment in underground coal mines, it is important that persons assigned to repair, maintain, examine, and test diesel equipment be properly qualified. For this reason, persons to be assigned to perform work on diesel equipment are required to successfully complete a qualification and training program conducted by a competent instructor. Requirements pertaining to this training are contained in 30 CFR 75.1915.
