    Permissible-type diesel equipment is required to be equipped with an approval plate to verify that the machine is a permissible-type and has been approved. The slide shows a view of the approval plate for the Wagner scoop found in the operator’s compartment. Text on the right is used to clarify the required data on the approval plate which includes the approval number for the machine and the air quantity required to properly ventilate the machine to dilute and carry away diesel exhaust contaminants.

NOTE: The approval number shown on the plate in this photo is dated. Machines must now meet the requirements of 30 CFR, Part 75, Subpart T. Machines with approval numbers beginning with 31-66 which are modified to comply with current regulations should now have approval numbers that begin with 31-213 or hold formal field modification approval through MSHA. The number following the last dash in the approval number shown merely indicates the number of times changes were made by the manufacturer (2 in this case).
