The engine includes the connection of the intake pipe to the intake manifold and the entire exhaust system, which includes the exhaust pipe extending from the engine exhaust manifold to the scrubber, the scrubber itself, and the water makeup tank. The scrubber serves as the cooling agent for the hot exhaust gases emitted from the engine and prevents discharge of glowing particles. It also serves as a flame arrester to quench flames passing through the exhaust in event of ignition of methane inside the engine. The water makeup tank provides an additional supply of water to help ensure that an adequate level of water is maintained in the scrubber.
| NOTE: 30 CFR Part 36 requires that the machine contain enough water for at least 2-2/3 hours of operation at full load. This is enough water for an 8-hour shift at one-third load factor.
